Hi everybody, this is Dr. Nicole Cain and I want to give you a quick gut psychology tip. For today I want to tell you that dysbiosis is the name of the game and as you know we’ve been talking about how your gut health can affect your mood. One of the key components of “happy healthy gut” health is the pH of your gut. If the pH of your gut is out of balance it will change the flora on your gut or the bacterial composition, and the way the bacteria are in the gut is going to change the way your gut affects your brain. So getting your gut back in balance is a huge important step to getting your mood back to where you would like it. So dysbiosis is when the bugs in your gut are out of balance, a couple of things will contribute to that one is what is the pH of the food that you are eating. Is it high acidic foods or are you getting in a good alkaline diet? #2 is the amount of probiotics that you are taking. Are you taking things that are antibiotic or are you taking things like sauerkraut and probiotics and kimchi and all these foods that will actually change the flora in your gut? And then #3, what are you doing as far as fiber and elimination? So the healthier your gut is the more balanced your pH will be and then the healthier your mind will be. – Dr. Nicole Cain, ND MA
